The banning of Talos worship and bowing to the requests of the Thalmor have caused issues through Skyrim. By traveling to Empire-leaning holds and talking to characters, the player is able to learn about the history of the Empire in Skyrim. Likewise, finding books and notes can also help the player learn more about the country.

10 Dragonborn Was Captured By The Empire

In the beginning of Skyrim, the player is captured by the Empire and brought to Helgen to be executed. The player will find that they are in a wagon of Stormcloaks and a thief. What the player might not know is how they came to be in this situation.

The Dragonborn was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Empire had set up an ambush, and the Dragonborn happened to be there when the trap was sprung. As it goes, the Dragonborn was only crossing into Skyrim from Cyrodiil.

9 White-Gold Tower Visible From Skyrim

The White-Gold Tower is in the Imperial City of Cyrodiil. While the player is able to visit it in Oblivion, the tower can be seen in Skyrim. This is possible when the player takes part in a Daedric quest.

In the quest The Break of Dawn, the player is lifted high up in the air by Meridia. If the player looks to the south, they can see Cyrodiil and the top of the White-Gold Tower.

8 Thalmor Behind Civil War

The Thalmor are the reason for the unrest in Skyrim, as they banned the worship of Talos - a Nord god - and will imprison anyone caught worshipping him. The Thalmor can also be seen at Helgen, trying to keep Ulfric alive so the war will keep going.

A dossier found in the Thalmor Embassy reads that either side achieving victory is not in the Thalmor’s interest. It is said that either side winning the war will hurt the Thalmor’s influence.

7 The Emperor Can Be Killed

The emperor of the Empire at the time of the civil war is Titus Mede II. If the player takes part in the Dark Brotherhood quests, the emperor can be assassinated. This will cause the Empire to lose their leader in the middle of an important war.

Killing the emperor won’t be easy, though. He has a body double, who is poisoned when the player disguises themselves as a chef. The true location of the emperor is discovered, and he is killed while on his ship.

6 East Empire Company Influenced By Emperor

The East Empire Company is found at the docks of Solitude. By the name, players can assume that it is affiliated with the Empire. However, there is a bigger tie to the Empire than players might know about.

The Empire finances and offers protection to the company. The emperor is also responsible for electing the board of leading figures. A little bit of this can be seen in the game, as the emperor’s cousin is an important figure in the company.

5 Penitus Oculatus Act As Emperor’s Guard

With the disbanding of the Blades, the Penitus Oculatus act as the new bodyguards of the emperor of the Empire. The Penitus Oculatus can only be found when the player starts the Dark Brotherhood quests to assassinate the emperor.

The organization’s headquarters can be found in the village of Dragon’s Bridge. After the assassination of the emperor, the Penitus Oculatus raid the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, causing the order to have to relocate.

4 Empire Replaces Stormcloak Aligned Jarls

If the Empire wins the civil war, they will replace the jarls of Stormcloak aligned cities. An example of this is Maven Black-Briar replacing Laila Law-Giver as jarl. The only jarl who is killed instead of replaced is Ulfric Stormcloak, but that is understandable.

After being replaced, the Stormcloak jarls can be found in the Palace of the Kings in Windhelm, along with their families, stewards, and housecarls. Along with replacing jarls, Imperial soldiers will act as the new city guards.

3 There Is A Centuries-Old Imperial Soldier

In the Dragonborn DLC, the player can travel to the island of Solstheim and find an old Imperial fort. Inside is a character players can recognize from Morrowind - General Falx Carius. What players can notice about him is that he has a red crystal over his heart and does not have pupils in his eyes.

The reason for Falx Carius’ long life is because he was resurrected by a necromancer. The player can find him by traveling to Fort Frostmoth, where the player can finally allow him to die.

2 Legate Rikke Can Be Found In Sovngarde

Legate Rikke is a Nord, which means she is entitled to entering Sovngarde after she dies. If the player sides with the Stormcloaks, Legate Rikke is killed and will enter the afterlife. Later when the player enters Sovngarde, the player can find the legate.

It is not all happy when the player reunites with Rikke. Legate Rikke mentions she regrets all of the deaths the civil war brought, as there were greater threats to Skyrim. Because of this regret, she is unable to find her way to Shor’s Hall, the feasting place of Nords in the afterlife.

1 The Empire Will Most Likely Attack Thalmor After Civil War

If the Empire is victorious in the civil war, General Tulius will mention that it is likely there will be a second war against the Thalmor. This preparedness also explains why there is not a lot of legions in Skyrim. General Tulius again says the emperor keeps armies on the southern boarder of Cyrodiil to prepare for a second Great War.

Whether this war happens or not, it would be nice to see the Empire become as powerful as it once was. It would also be nice to see the Thalmor get kicked out of Skyrim and Cyrodiil after the unrest they had caused.
