The proverbial fire was stoked when industry insider Shinobi602 also confirmed that a remastered version of Skyrim would make an appearance during E3 2016, which may be indicative that Besthesda is preparing to follow up on Fallout 4’s success in bringing modification content to consoles. The Skyrim workshop has been a testing ground for modification content before, and now it’s looking more and more likely that Bethesda will bolster sales of a remastered Skyrim by allowing gamers to import modifications to next generation consoles via Bethesda’s own hosting services.

According to Shinobi, it looks like Skyrim isn’t the only attention-grabbing title that Bethesda has prepared for E3 this year. The industry insider says that the long-awaited sequel to Prey will make an appearance at the trade show, which is something we speculated might happen a few weeks ago.
Focusing back on Tamriel, Shinobi’s speculation was vetted by another NeoGAF insider who responded to the rumors by simply stating “It’s real”. The man who corroborated Shinobi’s words was behind the Dead Rising 4 leak, which certainly lends him some saying power when it comes to speculation within the industry.
With less than a week until E3 is set to take off, publishers and developers will have an increasingly harder time keeping their biggest announcements firmly under wrap. It looks like the news of a Skyrim remaster may have flown the coop, though, so we’ll keep you updated as more information inevitably leaks out.
The remastered version of Skyrim reportedly had a listed release date of November 23rd, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One. We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
