Establishing Brass Lion Entertainment, this group of industry veterans are looking to create forward-thinking titles that deliver imaginative worlds with diverse characters, like in Cyberpunk 2077, at the forefront. In a post on its site, the studio announced that it’s “focused on creating original fictional universes that that center on Black, Brown, and other marginalized characters, cultures, and stories.” The developer goes on to state that, “Brass Lion is a diverse and inclusive environment where creatives of all backgrounds can thrive and bring unique and compelling stories to the market.” Alongside this statement, Brass Lion also revealed its first game: Corner Wolves.

Providing an early description of the game, Brass Lion claims Corner Wolves “tells the stories of young people growing up in the hood, and how their lives are shaped and defined by the war on drugs, as they are caught between dope dealers, hustlers, and overzealous police.” The story is supposedly in “a fictional universe set in Harlem during the mid-90s”, and follows “Jacinte, a young Afro-Latina, [that] embarks on a mission to find her father’s killer.” The game appears to have a strong focus on storytelling, and if the credentials behind its team are anything to go by, it’s not difficult to imagine there’ll be some RPG mechanics mixed in there as well.

Corner Wolves currently doesn’t have a release date, but its already got a number of high profile names behind it, including Manveer Heir, a lead designer for Mass Effect 3; Rasha Redic, an artist for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim; and Evin Narcisse, the writer behind Marvel’s recent Rise Of The Black Panther graphic novel. It will also feature music by Grammy Award winner Just Blaze and be produced by Bryna Dabby Smith, an industry veteran who has worked on titles such as Sleeping Dogs, Def Jam Vendetta, and more.

Speaking of Mass Effect, the legendary series recently celebrated its annual N7 day anniversary, using the event to ask fans what they wanted to see from the franchise moving forward and discussing some of the series’ most prominent mysteries. There’s no denying that the game has a strong legacy, and hopefully its former team members will be able to recreate its influence in their exciting new endeavor.

Corner Wolves is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
