Recently, a TikTok user set out to capture the same sense of scope as Skyrim and decided a work of art based on the game. The work of art in question is an oil painting capturing a moment reminiscent of the Dragonborn’s constant battles against the dragons.

TikTok user Aaron Long (@painteddragonstudios) posted a clip of the oil painting to the platform. The title notes the painting was created by Aaron’s wife, as due credit is given to her in the title. Skyrim art pieces do well among gamers, and as such the clip has already reached a staggering 32,000 views in less than a day.
The clip and painting capture the moment a dragon comes face to face with the Dragonborn. The clip starts zoomed in the center of the painting, where the silhouette of the Dragonborn is being finished up presumably by Long’s wife. As the camera slowly zooms out, the true nature of the oil painting is revealed, showing it to be a dragon’s eye reflecting the silhouette of the Dragonborn. The eye as well as surrounding skin are very well done, but the silhouette of the Dragonborn facing down their sworn dragon enemy really steals the show. Typically, dragons ambush the player, but The Dragonborn in the oil painting is clearly ready for the showdown.
Users were blown away by the clip, as evidenced by the comments. Many users congratulated Long’s wife on her incredible work. One user asked if the silhouette of the Dragonborn was Batman, and Long replied explaining the Dragonborn is unfortunately not the Caped Crusader. Some other users, invigorated by the painting and accompanying music, decided it was high time for another Skyrim playthrough.
Despite player feelings about the re-releases of Skyrim, the title holds a spot in some players’ hearts as one of the most iconic open-world titles released. Now 10 years removed from its original release, the popularity of the game is shown through moments such as this. The future of The Elder Scrolls franchise is uncertain due to limited information about The Elder Scrolls 6, but if Skyrim is anything to go off of, the franchise is headed in the right direction.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Series X|S.
