A few days ago, during the QuakeCon 2011 presentation for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda’s Todd Howard came on stage and presented footage of the game’s frost dragon, footage that seemingly got one pregnant woman so excited that she entered labor during the demo!
Let’s back up and tell a little history here. Last year at QuakeCon 2010, two in-love gamers got engaged when groom-to-be, Chaz, proposed to his bride-to-be, Stevi, onstage at the end of the show. Their wedding plans involved them tying the knot at this year’s QuakeCon but other arrangements will need to made now, since Stevi couldn’t stick around for the whole convention.
During the half-hour Skyrim presentation, Stevi went into labor, but unsure if it was a false alarm, and being a hardcore Elder Scrolls fan, they stuck around for the entire thing, then went to the hospital afterwards where she gave birth to a baby girl, named Atari Lynn - a fitting name.
In Chaz’s own words:
So yes, there’s a good chance Atari Lynn is a Dragonborn.
The funny part about all of this is that back in February, Bethesda posted a “quest” for fans of the game, that if they could birth a child on the release date of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (November 11, 2011) and name their child “Dovahkiin” (which translates to “Dragonborn” in Dragon Tongue), they’d win a special prize. They later revealed that the child would get every Bethesda game ever (past and future) for free, along with other unannounced “loot.”
Now, obviously young Atari didn’t qualify but this is still rather special and hopefully Bethesda does a little something for the young parents. Congrats Chaz and Stevi, and way to make an entrance, Atari!
