Skyrim gamers must create a character before beginning their adventure in the fantasy world. They can decide key characteristics of their Skyrim avatar, like its physical appearance, name, gender, and race. Choosing the right race is a crucial part of Skyrim, as some are suited for particular playstyles while others aren’t. Also, some races are stronger or have additional stats that could help novice players get the hang of Skyrim. After a thorough analysis, one fan has made a tier list of playable races in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Reddit user NLTPanaIyst uploaded a picture on the Skyrim subreddit showing their tier list of the game’s races. As per the post’s caption, the user has spent more than 2,000 hours on The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim at the highest difficulty and made this tier list. The top tier is marked as the most effective and contains a single race, the High Elf, mainly because of the Magicka buff and height advantage. The A tier is the second and includes three races often considered the best in Skyrim: Orc, Breton, and Nord. They picked Orcs for their impressive height and melee combat skills, Bretons for their magic resistance, and Nords for frost resistance.
Meanwhile, the third tier has some interesting names from Skyrim, like Dark Elves, known for their decent combat ability and immunity against fire. This category also has Redguard and Wood Elf races, which were picked for poison and disease resistance, respectively. The second to last tier consists of Khaljit for their stealth and the Argonians for their racial ability called Histskin, which boosts health restoration. Lastly, the final level has only one race from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the Imperials, whose attributes aren’t as good as others.
Understandably, the Skyrim community on Reddit had a lot of things to say about this race tier list. Many people agreed with the original poster, while several others had conflicting views. Many gamers argued that Argonians should be in the top tier alongside High Elves, whereas others believed Nords should be up there as well.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
