Skyrim has been supported by its vast and growing community with mods over the past 11 and a half years since launch. The Anniversary Edition release in 2021 brought curated Creation Club mods and new content to existing console and PC versions at the time. One year later, Bethesda would release the Skyrim Anniversary Edition for Nintendo Switch and the Epic Games Store, allowing even more players to try out the latest version of the critically acclaimed title. Performance issues plagued the Switch version for some time, but Bethesda ultimately remedied the issues through various patches.

Prolific Nexus Mods user Elianora developed the new “Home in a Hat” mod for Skyrim, which is a magic hat that acts as another home for the Dragonborn. Similar to Genshin Impact’s Serenitea Pot, Skyrim players have access to a home located in a pocket dimension outside the game’s native world. When the Home in a Hat mod is installed, players gain the “Ancient Wizard Hat” in their inventory. After equipping the Ancient Wizard Hat from the Armor menu, Skyrim players will be teleported into their new Haven Bag-inspired home. Within the home, players have access to crafting stations, a mirror to alter the Dragonborn’s appearance, storage chests, and much more.

To exit the Home in a Hat, players may simply unequip the Ancient Wizard Hat by visiting the Armor menu once more. Unequipping the magic hat will teleport the player back to where they were last located in Skyrim. The new magic hat mod uses Ayleid ruin assets from Skyrim Anniversary Edition according to Elianora, so players should own the latest edition of the game or have the latest update installed prior to installing the mod. The latest update should ensure full compatibility with the Home in a Hat mod.

Elianora’s magic hat mod is a really convenient addition to the enormous mod selection available for Skyrim at Nexus Mods. The mod allows for additional storage space through the use of another home without having to teleport to major Skyrim towns like Whiterun or Riften. At the same time, the Home in a Hat gives the Dragonborn a nice place to rest before continuing to journey across the region. Mods like Home in a Hat gives players another reason to revisit Skyrim while waiting for the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6.

A nearly limitless collection of mods are available now at Nexus Mods, including valuable mods for stealthy Skyrim archers. New mods continue to be released and updated in 2023 as Skyrim approaches its 12th anniversary later in November.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
