Dawnbreaker is a Daedric artifact Skyrim players can obtain after completing a quest called The Break of Dawn. It deals fire damage on every hit, and it has a chance of creating an explosion after defeating an undead creature. Dawnbreaker is a powerful weapon, but one fan managed to run into a problem while completing this quest.

In a post on Reddit, a player named MasterNado uploaded an image from their playthrough of Skyrim and described the situation in the title. MasterNado explained that they left their follower waiting in the final room and decided to go back to get them upon realizing their mistake. However, they came across a locked iron door which requires a key, leaving MasterNado stuck without their follower. They made this post asking Skyrim fans on Reddit for suggestions on how to rectify the situation.
Many users posted comments stating that a wooden plate could be useful in this scenario. For those unaware, players can go through a wall after placing a wooden plate against it and using Skyrim’s Whirlwind Sprint shout. Some users shared their surprise at learning that such a move is possible in Skyrim, with one stating that this tactic can also be used to access locked chests. One player mentioned that they never knew about this Skyrim glitch despite playing the game for many years.
Other fans recommended more useful tips, such as opening the console command to unlock the door. Unfortunately, it looks like MasterNado is playing on a console, so they won’t have access to Skyrim console commands that are available on PC. One user mentioned that this is how they lost Lydia, who is probably the most famous Skyrim follower.
MasterNado’s decision to ask for help turned out to be a great idea as they ultimately managed to solve the problem. A player named JoaC1989 recommended going to sleep for 3 days, as Skyrim followers reset after this period. MasterNado’s follower was a part of a caravan, and after waiting for some time, they finally managed to reconnect with him thanks to the Skyrim community.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
