With Skyrim releasing a special anniversary edition to commemorate ten years since the game’s launch, and multiple re-releases of the game coming out before that, new players have had plenty of chances to pick up the game, while returning players have plenty of reasons to come back to the game, fire up the character creator, and build that two-handed fighter only for them to turn into a stealth archer halfway through the playthrough.

Apart from the magic, dragons, and multiple factions that can draw a player to Skyrim, something that players of the game often discuss is its landscape, including the nine major settlements that break up the Dovahkiin’s travelling through woodlands, snows and mountains. The cities of Skyrim have interested fans since the game’s release, and recently one group of fans debated over which of Skyrim’s cities was the worst. Each of the cities is unique in more ways than one, though something that often stands out is the uniform of each city’s guards. From Whiterun to Falkreath a player will observe a different coloured uniform, and a unique shield with the sigil of the city.

These shields were enough to catch the eye of one new player to Skyrim, who decided to collect each of the nine shields and display them in their in-game home. While the shields are pictured lying on the floor, the truly impressive thing about this collection is that the player claims they grabbed every shield without killing a single guard. Usually, the shields can only be found on a guard, leading to a player having to either kill a guard or wait until a random dragon, vampire or bandit did the deed for them before they could get the shield. However, this pacifist declared on Reddit that they had pickpocketed each and every shield in their collection.

Having a collection of shields seems more useful for decorative purposes than anything else, though shields can be useful in Skyrim, especially for any player looking to tackle the game with the One Handed skill. Whether they’re useful or not, many players are fascinated by these shields, with some even creating replicas of the Skyrim shields in real life.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
