The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim allows players to fully customize their builds, as they can choose from a variety of weapon types and spells during a playthrough. Gamers have access to several skill trees that cater to different play styles, and each of them comes with a unique set of perks or abilities. Fans can also get fairly powerful passive bonuses that can alter the way they approach combat scenarios, and one Skyrim player found an incredibly useful Amulet of Talos that granted them a possibly game-changing bonus.

A Reddit user named IcyOrdinary7237 found an Amulet of Talos that reduces the time between shouts by 100%. The Amulet of Talos is supposed to reduce shout’s cooldown by 20%, a considerable difference on its own, but IcyOrdinary7237 seems to have come across an upgraded version of the item. However, it’s unclear if the amulet works as seen in the image or if the displayed stats are just another Skyrim bug.
One user in the comments section also reduced shout’s cooldown by 100% using a neat trick that involves transforming a follower in Skyrim into a werewolf or vampire lord. The player claims to have forgotten the exact steps, but it allowed them to equip five individual Amulets of Talos to get a 100% time reduction between shouts.
Some gamers also wonder if IcyOrdinary7237 used mods to make this possible. The Reddit poster confirmed that they were using various mods in their playthrough of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim but believes them to be unrelated to the special effect of this Amulet of Talos.
Fans can receive the Blessing of Talos, which too reduces the time between shouts by 20%, by praying at a shrine in Skyrim. So an amulet with the same name would probably not give users five times the benefits. Players can sometimes run into a bug with Skyrim’s Blessing of Talos, causing it to show a 0% difference instead of 20%, so a similar glitch may have occurred in IcyOrdinary7237’s playthrough. Regardless, it’s not clear if this Amulet of Talos actually gives the Dragonborn a 100% reduction in the time they take before using another shout.
The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
