Each weapon has its own skill tree, allowing gamers to specialize in the various types of armaments available in Skyrim. As an example, users wanting to play with one-handed swords can unlock perks that increase weapon damage, cause a bleeding effect, and ignore the opponent’s armor, among others. Many of Skyrim’s weapons can also be enchanted with special effects, but one fan recently came across a sword with an unbelievably useless passive bonus.

A Reddit user named Metaru_sama has shared an image of an Elven Sword of Lingering Fire they found in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Judging by its design, the sword looks like it could do a ton of damage to the various enemies in the game, but it has a crucial flaw. The sword comes with an enchantment that states that targets burn for 0 points of damage per second until the combat encounter ends. So, players will be doing just 7 damage per strike with this Elven Sword of Lingering Fire in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Many users in the comments section joke about the sword being warm and dull instead of dealing a substantial amount of fire damage in Skyrim, with one claiming that it’s only useful for its cosmetic appeal. Some gamers also talk about the base damage being too weak on its own, so this enchantment feels like a scam. Another player goes on to describe an even worse sword that would deal 7 points of damage, but heal the opponent for 8 on every hit, allowing the target to regain 1 health on every strike.

Aside from that, most of the players seem to be fixated on the UI used by Metaru_sama, with gamers asking about the mod utilized to make it appear so clean. According to one comment, the Reddit poster is using the SkyHUD mod in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, with another skin on top of it. However, a couple of users state that they are using a mod named Dear Diary that replaces Skyrim’s UI with a paper-like interface.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
