As an example, a Skyrim player received a strange inheritance letter in which the name of the deceased matched their own. The user had no connection to an NPC also named Ragnar, but they received a sum of 90 gold nonetheless. This total was excluding the high amount of tax, worth 10 gold pieces, imposed by the Jarl’s court. Now, a Skyrim fan somehow received a blank letter from a friend.

A Reddit user named ColdExamination1474 has shared a picture of a blank letter they received in Skyrim. As seen in the image, the document is completely blank, but ColdExamination1474 mentions reading it a couple of weeks ago. They state that the letter started a new quest that lead to a word of power in Skyrim, so it’s strange for it to appear blank now. ColdExamination1474 also confirms that they managed to get the word of power featured in the document.

Some of the comments include jokes about ColdExamination1474 having no friends or how they shouldn’t trust NPCs in Skyrim. Many users claim to have played similar jokes on their friends in real life using invisible ink, with some asking the player to hold it against ultraviolet light. A few fans jokingly suggest putting lemon juice on it and placing it next to a heat source to reveal a secret message. On the other hand, there seems to be a reasonable explanation for this mysteriously blank letter.

One user mentioned that after obtaining the word of power described on the page, such quests are cleared until the next delivery starts in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. They claim that the letter appears blank should there be a problem with the text, and speculate that this could have happened to ColdExamination1474.

Another player seems to have experienced a similar event, and they point to a fairly likely scenario that can solve this Skyrim mystery. They mention that such pages can turn into empty documents after they are placed in a container and some time has passed. This information matches ColdExamination1474’s account of not seeing the letter for two weeks in real time.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
