10 Best: Jenassa

Jenassa is a fairly easy romance option. She’s a Dunmer usually hanging around The Drunken Huntsman in the city of Whiterun. Upon approaching her she’ll offer herself for hire as a mercenary for 500 gold. As a companion she’s among the most tolerant ones, with a taste for murder and chaos. She won’t bat an eye if you kill and murder innocents or steal from others. Once she’s hired she also becomes available as a marriage candidate, and there isn’t a special quest for you to do in order to marry her. Simple and a great match for any evil Dragonborn.

9 Worst: Camilla Valerius

Camilla might be one of the best looking candidates around Skyrim, but you want to exercise some caution. You see, she’s actually stuck in the middle of a love triangle between Sven and Faendal. Even if you marry her and deny either of them the chance to ever be with her, Faendal will still continue to visit her as a “friend”. Unless you’re fine with this, we don’t recommend getting involved with her, even if she’s easy to marry after you help her brother Lucan early on in the game to retrieve the golden claw from Bleak Falls Barrow.

8 Best: Farkas Or Vilkas

The Companions have tons of potential romances available to you, but if you’re looking for a husband in particular, either of the two brothers Farkas or Vilkas are great choices. Not only will you get to know them and develop a genuine connection during the Companions quest line, but they’re also skilled fighters and excellent companions to have along if you prefer to keep your spouse with you during your adventures. After you’ve finished the main quest of the Companions, either become available for marriage.

7 Worst: Viola Giordano

If you’re looking for everlasting love, it’s probably best to go for someone who will live a long life. Viola Giordano, although at a respectable and mature age, isn’t the ideal pick here. She’s a woman living in Windhelm, panicked about the recent killings committed by a murderer known as the Butcher. Once you’ve completed the quest line, she’s available for marriage, although she won’t be much use for you outside of being a homemaker. She can’t fight or fend for herself, which is why she won’t be able to follow you during your adventures.

6 Best: Mjoll The Lioness

Mjoll is a resident of Riften and is highly concerned with the state of the city. If you agree with her about the Thieves’ Guild only making matters worse and show yourself useful around Riften by helping its residents, Mjoll will grow to like and trust you. However, before you’re able to marry her or invite her along to your adventures you need to help her retrieve her sword Grimsever from the Dwemer ruins of Mzinchaleft. Upon your return you can finally marry her, and what makes matters even better is that her skills will serve you well in combat. Moreover, she’s set to never die in the game, so you’ll never have to worry about her passing in battle.

5 Worst: Octieve

When it comes to marriage, it’s nice to have someone reliable by your side. That’s why Octieve from Solitude doesn’t exactly come to mind as the ideal candidate. He’s an older man living in Solitude with his daughter Evette that looks older than the Dragonborn themselves. Octieve has a severe gambling and drinking problem, so much so that he’s begun to accumulate a bit of a debt. If you help him with it, he’ll offer you training with Two-Handed weapons and will become available for marriage.

4 Best: Argis The Bulwark

Looking to protect yourself and have a man with undying loyalty by your side? Argis is your choice. He’s without a doubt the hottest male Housecarl available in the game, and he isn’t easy to acquire either. You’ll need to help the residents of Markarth on five occasions, gain the right to purchase Vlindrel Hall and become the Thane before the Jarl will pass him on to you. He’s a great homemaker, but where he truly shines is combat. Any spouse who has your back when surrounded by Draugr and welcomes you warmly back home is a good spouse in our eyes.

3 Worst: Angrenor Once-Honored

Love should never be about material possession, and in most cases in Skyrim you’ll be the one providing your spouse with a house. That being said, it might not be the wisest of choices to marry a man right off the streets. Angrenor is a beggar from Windhelm, who lost everything after returning from the war. He was once a talented fighter, but now spends most of his days being racist and rude to the local Dunmer, which in itself is already a huge no-no in our eyes. Cranky, unlovable and with nothing to offer since he can’t be a companion, if you’re still interested you can marry him after simply giving him one gold coin.

2 Best: Aela The Huntress

One of the core members of the Companions, Aela is a proud werewolf and one of the members who refuses to give up her beast blood at the end of the quest. What makes her an amazing companion is the closeness we feel to her after the quest of the faction is complete, as well as her ranged skills which compliment a Dragonborn more focused on one-handed or two-handed combat. She’s one of those spouses that will remain loyal to you and will follow you through our adventures or wait patiently for you at home. Not to mention, she tolerates stealing and murdering, and only makes a comment about trespassing, making her the second most accepting spouse.

1 Worst: Sorex

If you’re curious to know who the most unreliable man in Skyrim is (aside from M’aiq the Liar of course), we’ve got him right here for you: Sorex. This Imperial man can be found working as a merchant in Solitude, usually hanging around The Winking Skeever. He’s a ladies man, often seen asking for alcohol from Evette to pass it to Vivienne at the inn. Even after marriage he can be found doing this and chatting up other women. As a husband he’s a bit capricious, complaining about the size of your house as well as implying that the Dragonborn should cook for him instead. Not worth your time, or anyone’s for that matter.
