A common item that players will often find whenever they enter a building or dungeon within Skyrim are books. Skyrim contains a surprising number of books, which can help players increase their ability stats, provide background information on specific in-game topics, and even start entire quests. In fact, one player is actually trying to collect every book in Skyrim and placing them in a dedicated chest. Now, another player has instead put all their books in a body of water.

A Reddit user named PanzerkampfIV decided to see what would happen if the player put several dozen books into a contained body of water in Skyrim. The answer is that it slows down the frame rate to a crawl, and it makes it almost impossible for the player to leave the water, should they decide to jump in.
It’s incredible how often players are able to push Skyrim to its limits not just from a technological standpoint, but also from a creative standpoint as well. Very few players would think to put a bunch of books into one of the water fixtures leading up to Dragonsreach in Whiterun and the results are quite hilarious, to say the least.
The fact that players are still experimenting with Skyrim’s mechanics a full ten years after its release is a true testament to the game’s popularity and influence. Similar to putting books in the water, one player decided to use Fus Ro Dah on a big pile of skulls they had made, just to see what would happen.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Elder Scrolls series moving forward. This upcoming E3 will mark the four-year anniversary of the initial announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6. In that time, there have been little to no additional development updates. With any luck, more information regarding The Elder Scrolls 6 will be revealed in the coming months.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Series X|S.
