Workplace chat app Slack appears to be suffering outages today, with users on social media reporting a surge in connectivity issues.

DownDetector, a platform that tracks website issues in real-time based on complaints, confirmed in a tweet that users were experiencing problems, with an outage map showing that problems appeared to mainly be hitting Europe.

On its own status page, Slack said its internal teams were “looking into an issue” but did not elaborate on the suspected cause of the incident.

“Some people may be having an issue with Slack. We’re currently investigating and will have more information shortly. Thank you for your patience,” it said.

“Some customers are having trouble with files, messages and connecting to Slack. We’re investigating and will have more information to share 30 minutes.”

A slew of users have taken to Twitter to raise frustrations with the downtime, especially as COVID-19-related lockdowns mean many people around the world are working from home, using the popular chat app to connect remotely with colleagues.
